I am the featured artist for the annual spring flower show, and will be exhibiting a series of dynamic and sparkly mosaics that delve deep into the hidden geometry within the delicate structures of flowers. I have created a series of flower themed mandalas unraveling the intricate beauty and rich symbolism found within geometric shapes. Prepare to be enchanted with my pieces hung within gorgeous spring flower vignettes. My hope is to provide a glimpse into the captivating world of flowers where geometry and art converge, inviting you to contemplate the interconnectedness and harmonious essence that exists within nature itself.

Description

Step into the captivating world of flowers through the mesmerizing mosaic artworks of Shelley Beaumont. In an upcoming solo exhibition at the MN Landscape Arboretum, Shelley delves deep into the hidden geometry within the delicate structures of flowers, unraveling their intricate beauty and rich symbolism.

Inspired by her love for flowers, their symmetry, and the enigmatic emergence of colors from their stems, Shelley has embarked on an artistic journey that to encompass the concepts of reflection and repeating patterns. Drawing inspiration from the meditative qualities of mandalas, these elements are imbued way into Shelley’s mosaics, creating a harmonious interplay of light and shadow that captivates viewers and invites them into a state of contemplation.

Inspired by the renowned late geometrist, Keith Critchlow, and his book “The Hidden Geometry of Flowers” Shelley has incorporated several of his geometric studies of flowers into this exhibition. His studies provided a tool to assist Shelley in structuring her designs to create the flower mosaics featured. The geometric design within each flowers is created with mirror, representing the living energetic structure of each flower. Shelley found herself immersed in profound thoughts about origins, structure, and how energy condenses into matter while constructing her pieces. The realization that geometry serves as the very structure and scaffolding that moves energy through and supports the life of a flower humbled and inspired Shelley in equal measure.

Through the interweaving of gemstones, reflective mirror, repeating patterns, and sacred geometry, Shelley creates mosaics that transcend the boundaries of art and invite viewers to explore their own inner landscapes. Each piece represents a pivotal moment in Shelley's artistic evolution, while also serving as an invitation for contemplation on the beauty, complexity, and inherent unity of the natural world.

In a gesture of gratitude and respect, Shelley plans to donate a piece from the exhibition to Professor Critchlow's legacy, the Kairos Foundation in the UK. This act of homage serves as a testament to the impact of Critchlow's studies and their influence on Shelley's artistic exploration into the mesmerizing patterns hidden within flowers.

Prepare to be enchanted as Shelley's exhibition unfolds, offering a glimpse into the captivating world of flowers where geometry and art converge, inviting us to contemplate the interconnectedness and harmonious essence that exists within nature itself.
